The Estonian Association of Designer Bookbinders invites you to participate in the international exhibition of bookbinding Scripta Manent IV "The Word Was Sung" ("Lauldud sõna") in Tallinn, in the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design.

The exhibition will be opened on September 28, 2010 and will remain open until January 9, 2011.

The participation fee, which contains the cost of sheets, the exhibition catalogue and the postal expenses, is 90 EUR. Payments should be made via bank transfer to the Non-Profit Organization Estonian Association of Designer Bookbinders:

NB! The artistic binding or object should not weigh more than 3 kg and not exceed the measurements 40 x 40 x 40 cm. Every artist who has registered and paid the participation fee will receive the set of sheets by post to the postal address written on the registration form.

The exhibits together with a short biography of the creative work of the artist and a short technical description should be sent to the Academic Library of Tallinn University starting from February 1, 2010. The deadline for sending exhibits is March 1, 2010 at the following address:

The jury will gather on April 20, 2010 and select three bindings / objects of art whose authors will each receive equal non-monetary main prizes – the Golden Books. 15 authors will get Honourable Mentions from the jury. In the student category, one non-monetary prize will be given to the best young bookbinder. One special prize will be given to the author of the most ingenious technical or the most inventive artistic solution. All participants will receive diplomas. The jury reserves the right to exclude artistically or technically inadequate works. The organizers of the exhibition reserve the right to take photographs of the exhibits and publish the photos in the catalogue of the exhibition, on the web page of the exhibition and in press with intention of informing the public and introducing the exhibition. The members of the jury can participate in the exhibition, but not compete in acquiring prizes.

The designer of the exhibition is Lennart Mänd, professor at the department of leather design in the Estonian Academy of Arts, member of the Estonian Association of Designer Bookbinders, artistic bookbinder.

The designer of the catalogue is Tiia Eikholm, member of the Estonian Association of Designer Bookbinders, chairperson of the Estonian Leatherwork Artists’ Union, artistic bookbinder.

After the exhibition the exhibits will be returned to the authors within one month.
